This film focuses on the spatial transformation of Xiamen's Eighth market.
Under the familiar society, private spaces have evolved into open consumer spaces for tourists, while the boundaries between local residents' living spaces and commercial market spaces have gradually blurred.
Using “fire” as its central motif, the film constructs reflections on survival amidst destruction. Does commercialization represent the “fire of continuity” sustaining market vitality, or does overheated capital completely devour the city's traditional culture?
Through probing interviews with residents, the film further raises critical questions about the appropriate “degree” of urban renewal.

This group, meaninglessly translated as "Expel", has fled from the past imprisonment and broken free from the constraints of both urban and rural societies.
